Meet Heather

My name is Heather Rodacker, and I was born and raised in Grande Prairie, Alberta. Supporting people through life’s most vulnerable moments is not only my work—it is something deeply personal to me.

Experience that shaped my care

My understanding of death, grief and love began early. At 15, I was with my grandfather when he died peacefully. Around that same time, I experienced the stillbirth of my baby. Later, I lost four brothers to addiction. These losses shaped my compassion and taught me that every person and family experiences grief differently.

Experience and Training

I am a trained End-of-Life Doula and have completed a two-year Social Work diploma. My background also includes more than 20 years of experience supporting people in caring and service-focused roles.

My experience includes working in a funeral home, providing recreational support, and serving as a team lead and group facilitator supporting people affected by cancer. Together, these experiences have strengthened my understanding of grief, caregiving, communication and the importance of meeting each person with compassion and respect.I bring both professional training and lived experience to this work, while remaining within my role as a non-medical end-of-life doula.

Additional training includes Mental Health First Aid, ASIST suicide intervention, LivingWorks suicide prevention, First Aid, CPR and AED, Nonviolent Crisis Intervention, DBT Essentials, conflict resolution, gender diversity, and abuse prevention and response. Heather is also currently completing Grief Educator Certification.

This training supports Heather’s compassionate, inclusive and non-medical approach and does not replace medical, counselling, legal or emergency services.

Through Guidance in Every Season, I walk alongside individuals and their loved ones in Grande Prairie and surrounding communities. I offer compassionate, non-medical companionship, practical guidance and a steady presence. Every person, family, belief system and tradition is welcomed without judgment.

My approach

I believe end-of-life support should feel personal, calm and never rushed. My role is to meet you and your family where you are, listen to what matters most, and offer practical and emotional support without judgment.

I work alongside families and existing healthcare providers, offering non-medical companionship, comfort and guidance. Whether you need someone to sit quietly beside you, help create meaningful moments, support loved ones, or simply help make an overwhelming time feel a little more manageable, I am there to walk alongside you.

There is no single right way to experience dying, death or grief. Your wishes, beliefs, traditions and choices will always be respected.

“A companion for you, through every season.”
